1. FREESTYLE WAVE EVENT
Fun and entertaining for both spectators and competitors this event is the opportunity for paddlers to show off on the surf wave. The competitor has five minutes to perform various rodeo maneuvers, surfing on a breaking wave. A panel of judges award points based on level of skill, ability, and creativity.
Beginner's compete on the inner wave, closest to shore. Intermediate's have the choice of competing on either or both of the inner wave and outer wave. Advanced paddlers will be on the outer wave.
2. SLALOM/TECHNICAL EVENT
This is not a true slalom (there are no gates involved) but more of a test of river running skills, requiring the competitor to maneuver through a set course of eight to ten markers on a section of river with big waves and boily eddies. Fastest time wins. The course starts below the Fish Ladder and finishes beyond the wave train.
3. DOWNRIVER RACE.
A mass start of all manner of paddling craft begins this short race of approx. 1 km. First to cross the finish line wins.
4. TEAM RAFT FLIP EVENT
Teams of four paddlers maneuver rafts from the big eddy, flip the raft at a fixed mark, paddle through the outer wave and finish at the Intake. Fastest time wins. Limit of two "Raft Guides" to a team.
BEGINNER - For all you new paddlers who are just out for the fun!!!!
INTERMEDIATE - You can surf the outer wave fairly consistantly, though maybe not as long as you would like. You've managed to pop the odd ender (accidentally) You can roll up in the boils below the wave 90% of the time.
ADVANCED - You are 'at one' with your boat.
